7 Days of Unified, Citywide Prayer & Encouragement for San Antonio

DAY 5 Guide: Family & Friends

Ask Jesus to bring to mind 2 people in your family or friend groups

At 9:00 Take time to pray intentionally for both. (or whenever works!)

Find a way to virtually send them some love!

Some ideas:  Write them a short song.  Be shockingly generous toward their family, their cause or their org.  Call them up and pray a blessing over them. Video your “why” about them in your life - why do they matter to you?  Remind them of a time that they impacted your life positively and express your gratitude

Give them a Shout Out! Use the hashtags:

#7daysSA #held #weareheld #wearefamily #allinthistogether

Not sure who to pick? Take the time to ask Jesus and pay attention to whomever God brings to mind after you ask.

Not sure how to encourage? Ask God and listen for what ideas pop in your mind and are impressed on you. Check and see if that idea would encourage you...if so, it’s probably a great direction to follow.

A Prayer for Us: Family and Friends

Father, your way has always been through family!

You promise to take the lonely and put them in a family.

You are the originator of “framily” - friends that are grafted in like family.

For these gifts of relationship we are most grateful.

Father, our hearts are tender toward those who live alone and are not near family.

May they feel your adoption.

Jesus, you came so that we could have life, life abundantly!

Release us from the chains of disconnect, image, success, comfort, money - any and every false security.

Open our eyes to your abundant life here and now.

Wake us and shake us, we are ready for real life in You!

There is no loneliness in you - there is relationship.

There is no striving in you - there is rest.

There is no lack in you - there is more than enough.

There is no insecurity in you - you are our firm Foundation.

Draw the lonely parts of our heart (not to mention our minds and bodies) to you, the vine of abundance.

Everything feels shaky and we’re not sure we can let our guard down to rest.

We look to you to help us.

We look to you to save us.

We look to You for answers.

You are our hiding place!

Help us cease our anxious striving. Bring us back from our mental road trips into fake futures. Shut down the vain imaginations of doom.

Help us process what is real.

Help us trust you as ONE family.

Help us to move in wisdom together.

Help us love each other.

We ask you to help us see our family and friends the way you see them.

We ask for your mighty hand on our day-to-day interactions.

Knit us together and graft us wholeheartedly into the vine of Life.

As your children together, we pray.

Amen
