I was puzzled over this very different state of being, when the Lord brought the word “incrEASE'“—emphasized just so—to my mind. He helped me see that the team and leader I was working with were all very glad to be serving together which in turn, created an atmosphere of joy and peace that made what we were doing easier for us and for others.
Read MoreThere was a rabbi who found himself wandering the empty streets of a Russian city early one morning. His rambling walk reflected the state of his heart and mind—many questions, few answers. In some despair, paying little attention to his surroundings, he strolled upon a Russian military compound off limits to civilians.
Read MoreRecently, I have been reaping the benefits of connection. At ONE we put a lot of emphasis on connection, even referring to our most basic prayer as “Connection Prayer.” My recent connection points are compliments of our first two ONE Journey groups. ONE Journey is an extended experience with others who want deeper connection with God, with others, and within themselves.
Read MoreAt the end of our first three days of January’s ONE Journey, one of the men pulled me aside and said, “Now I understand why it was hard to put this into words! Some things you just have to experience—I mean that in a really good way.” Isn’t it true of the most worthwhile things in life? Experience far outweighs the words, labels and descriptions we have for those experiences.
Read MoreThe morning before our first ONE Human Journey Experience was to begin, I kept getting a picture of a school of fish. This was partially because I was in a condo on the beach that had several pictures of schooling fish. God kept highlighting those to me, and I remembered the way those types of fish swim together. They often look like an object undulating and morphing from one thing into another.
Read MoreAs I was reading scripture before Christmas, I sensed God highlighting the Song of Mary, also called the Magnificat, in the first chapter of Luke. I was reading the Tree of Life Version of the Bible, a translation that honors our Hebrew roots, and Mary is referred to as Miriam, her Hebrew name.
Read MoreAs a kid at Christmas, nothing was more exciting to me than cooking something yummy up in the kitchen with my mom!
The best was the almond flavored shortbread cookies we’d make. (If only my mom had let me eat the whole bowl of cookie dough!) Life seemed magical when Christmas rolled around and I got to be part of the magic of baking with my sweet mom.
If I’m honest and let the kid inside of me speak up, I feel the exact same way this Christmas season, but not about Christmas cookies.

Read MoreI have heard many people talk about how difficult it is to hear God. I have often thought the same thing and still experience what feels like difficulty in hearing sometimes, but there is one thing that has completely changed that experience for me.
Read MoreDo you need a reset? In this crazy season, I know I definitely need one. The past two years have felt chaotic and overwhelming. What’s most interesting to me is that I wasn’t really aware of it until recently. This whole time I had no clue that I was stressed beyond anything I have felt before. There is no question that my life has been uprooted by Covid, but I have also experienced massive transitions in my personal life over the last two years.
Read MoreI know it. You know it. We all know it. It’s been a tough season. We know it so well that maybe we don’t even want to go there in conversation anymore. Yet, at the end of the first ONE Day reset, I was struck by how many people mentioned the value of an intentional space to process what we all know and are tired of talking about. Tired of mentioning, yes. But actually processing in a powerful way with God together? That was new and important for each one of us.
Read MoreDuring the last couple of years, it’s a little easier (sometimes a lot easier) for my heart to be troubled. Things are just amped up, and that intensity seems to breed trouble. Jesus says the scripture above in the 14th chapter of John’s Gospel. He’s introducing the idea of going away to prepare a place for the disciples.
Read MoreI’ve strived for certainty most of my life. I’ve been addicted to predicting and attempting to control outcomes. The results for me have been a constant feeling of being overwhelmed and sometimes failure and shame. Given the reality that certainty and control are generally illusions, I find myself struggling to find either in my life. I have a feeling that we may experience something similar.
Read MoreJesus is inviting you into the most engaged season of your life. Engaged in deep, unmovable trust. Where does trust come from? Experiencing the reality of the shelter that God is in the midst of the storm. Knowing God’s voice as Shepherd, always speaking, leading, and protecting His sheep who do hear His voice. Feeling the comfort and creativity of the Mother’s heart of God when, as children do, we need it to find our sense of self and life again.
Read MoreI’ve had a rough time recently. I returned home from a mission trip and brought back the dreaded Covid virus. My whole family went down with me, and trying to take care of two young children and recover at the same time was quite the challenge. Everyone has made a physical recovery, but we are still wrestling with the emotional and mental leftovers of the experience.
Read MoreThe past two years have been unprecedented in every way. Wrought with uncertainty, fear over Covid and health, isolation and the unsettledness of a contentious election. It’s been a messy, worrisome shared experience that none of us have been unaffected by or able to escape. We’ve all felt it. And still feel it.
Read MoreHow often do you feel unimportant, invaluable, or like God could do what you feel called to do without you? Well, you are marvelously breathtaking to God. Who you are is so important to Him, and only you can bring what God has put inside of you, not anyone else.
Read MoreOne night during hospital stay about a year ago, I was up all night preparing for testing early the next morning, I noticed a text from a friend who was up late (two hours earlier in another state) who urgently needed prayer for his family. I usually don’t get his texts until the next day, but since I was up, I began praying for him and his family.
