7 Days of Unified, Citywide Prayer & Encouragement for San Antonio

DAY 4 Guide: Weep With Those Who Weep

Ask Jesus to bring to mind 2 people who have recently experienced loss. (could be loss of a loved one, loss of a job, loss of normalcy)

At 9:00 Take time to pray intentionally for both. (or whenever works!)

Find a way to virtually and creatively let them know you LOVE them and care about what they are walking through. Remember, reaching out without the right words is better than not reaching out at all. Other’s losses aren’t ours to fix but acknowledgement and “showing up” are important, loving responses.

Some Ideas:

Send a thoughtful text, send them something they need or want, be shockingly generous toward their family, their cause or their org.  Video your kids favorite memories of that person or their favorite things about them. Remind them of a time that they impacted your life positively and express your gratitude

If appropriate to the situation, use the hashtags: #7daysSA #held #weareheld

Not sure who to pick? Take the time to ask Jesus and pay attention to whomever God brings to mind after you ask.

Not sure how to encourage? Ask God and listen for what ideas pop in your mind and are impressed on you. Check and see if that idea would encourage you...if so, it’s probably a great direction to follow.

Here’s a prayer you can use at home:

“Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord’s wrap-around presence surrounds his people, protecting them now and forever” (Psalm 125-2)

God, thank You that You are the God who protects.

You have no fear. No worry. No confusion.

You know exactly what is needed and exactly what to do, and You are more than capable.

Let Your wrap-around presence and your angel armies encircle SAN ANTONIO, shielding us and protecting us.

You say that You have given us authority over sickness, so we tell sickness to get out of our city.

May each person experiencing loss right now be overwhelmed by your Presence.

Let your Presence invade our city rapidly and spread at an alarming rate!

Every good thing comes from You and is in You.

As we invite Your Presence to invade our city in an even greater way that is experienced like never before, we are also inviting all of these good things that are within You to envelop us as You envelop us.

Peace. Redemption. Restoration. Comfort. Love. Healing.

We pray for everyone in San Antonio who has experienced loss during this time, whether that be loss of peace, finances, security, joy or even loved ones.

We ask that You God would fill and cover each loss as only You can.

I pray that Your peace, which is beyond our understanding, would cover each hurting heart, and that Your thoughts, which are full of promise, hope, and consolation would overtake and become our thoughts.

Your arms are the arms of faithfulness that are wrapped around us, protecting us (Psalm 91)

Thank you that your arms of faithfulness are around each person in San Antonio, and around San Antonio itself.

We believe You are who You say You are, and You are a God who fights for us and holds us at the same time.

We love You.

We trust You.

Amen
