What resonates with you?

God spoke, light shined. God spoke, oceans formed. God spoke, creation existed. Behind the voice of God is a specific frequency. Every intention, thought, belief, word, and feeling has a resonating frequency. Sometimes, those frequencies resonate with a word God has spoken to us in a beautiful melody, and sometimes they don’t. It is so vitally important that we pay attention and take hold of anything that is dissonant and out of tune.

The power of dissonant frequencies is determined by our ability to hear and choose something different. At first this may seem difficult, but we are all made to hear God’s voice, and we actually already hear it. I like to remind people often that they already hear God and most likely take credit for it. It’s a funny joke, but it’s most likely true. Luckily, God isn’t even offended by that. He is so humble. The more we awaken to His voice that already speaks, the more we are able to choose to partner with it. It just takes one time listening to Him.

We are made for a two-way conversation with God. He desires to be so close to us and to speak into the areas of our life that feel dissonant and out of tune. God is the master tuner. It’s not complicated, so don’t complicate it. God speaks fast and first. He will sound like the way you think. That could be in an inner voice, still picture, movie picture, physical words. Be open to anything, and listen to the first thing that comes to mind. You are made for this.

God will always speak with kindness and love no matter what. It is His kindness that leads to repentance, not his shaming or condemnation. If something comes up first that doesn’t quite sound like God, don’t worry! Just bring it right back to Him and ask why that came first. Oftentimes, I find that God lets a dissonant thought or feeling come through because He wants to simply tune it. I’m a guitarist. In order to tune a string, I have to pluck the wrong note first to see where it’s at.
