Fatherhood

Romans 8:16 - “For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, ‘You are God’s beloved child!’”

Sometimes, we view God from a lens of how our earthly father treated us, and that is very normal. It makes sense even. You could see God as distant, unloving, really good, or always present, all based on your interaction with your dad. Our earthly fathers can't live up to the perfection of God the Father, and He really wants to make up for what we lacked as children. Life with the Holy Spirit allows us to experience what a truly perfect, loving, and good Father looks like.

At ONE, we practice hearing God’s voice often, and that is all done through the power and access we have in the Holy Spirit that came when Jesus made his ultimate sacrifice. As Paul states in Romans above, the Holy Spirit whispers that we are God’s child. In the rest of his letters, there is usually a heavy message of sonship, and adoption is a major theme. We truly are God’s children, and we have access to all that He provides.

I believe God wants to be the Father to you today. There are areas of your life that He wants to talk to you about and reconcile. If you are feeling any apprehension, that’s okay—you have permission to do what you would like. I am just presenting an opportunity for you to receive something from the Father. If you are ready for what He wants to give you, just ask Him what He would like to share with your heart today.

God is present. He is a healer, provider, protector, and so much more for us. What do you need from the Father today? What would you ask for if you knew you could ask for anything? What if you believed that He would listen and respond in love and kindness?
