From Your First Breath
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust off the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)
From the first breath God breathed into man, we were intimately connected to the Father. There is nothing that can separate us. If we are living and breathing, it is because of His life that sustains us. We hear God because He resides in the breath we breathe, from our first to our last.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:4-6)
God truly is the Father of all, over all, through all, and in all. There is no escaping this overarching reality of the Father fully with us. Sometimes, we buy into the lie that we are separated from God, but I believe Scripture points to a different truth. On this side of the cross, we are in unceasing connection with the Father. Jesus established full access and connection with God, and we get to reap the benefits of His sacrifice.
Just remember that, from the first breath you took, you were designed and created to live in full communion with God. He inhabits the life that sustains you. There is no running from His presence and love. So where might you be believing you are separated from God? Let’s ask Him and find out.
Jesus, what would you like me to know about how close I am to you? Where am I believing any lies of separation? Jesus, how can I truly live in full communion with you?
